Letter from April 29th 2009!

OK so i had a pretty good week! So the heat has arrived!!! That is all I have to say! Remember last year I told you that I felt like im in a giant armpit! haha once again.... it is that hot and that humid out here. I love it for the most part. This week it has been like 90 degrees and humid as can be. So I have some news that really doesnt impact you in any way shape or form but one of our members has all of the movies that we can watch in spanish like cars, finding nemo, lion king, etc. So dont you worry we will be watching cars when we get home today. I cant wait! I freaking love that movie and the best thing is that it has some rascal flatts songs on it and if youre watching the movie you have to listen to them right!? haha it should be good.
So this week was really good but some wierd crap happened! haha
on thursday we had a bunch of tracting planned because we didnt really have any appointments planned but the lord provided and we ended up getting called by some members that needed translation at a tax office and also at a doctors appointment. So we ended up not tracting in 90 degree weather.. it was great! haha also on thrusday was brother conis's birthday. That old man that I sent you a picture of... him and I are in the picture, he turned 82! and he is still just kickin along. He is really like my grandpa! I love him. There are these way cool guys here in the english ward. There is two of them and only one is a member but is really actually chronically less active. Well he lives with his best friend. They are co-owners of a coffee shop slash bar/club thing in downtown. They are both way cool and told us that we could come in and eat there every meal a day if we needed. And that they will always be there to take care of us if anything happens... they are way way cool. Anyways on saturday we had to go and help them with their yard work because ken has a disease that his back is aging at twice the rate his body. he is like 42 and has the spine and back of a 80 year old! its bad, so we went and did a ton and ton of yard work! it was great. they fed us a huge bbq after words! Sunday was amazing! the bautista couple got baptized! they were sooooo freaking nervous! they were all just wandering around and couldnt hold still! it was great. the service was really really spiritual and we had amazing support from the branch. there were like 50 people there! it was great! I love having baptisms and especially when they all go well! it was really really great! I baptized one and my comp did the other. We have some pictures so I will be sending them off tomorrow. Also on sunday we had 8 investigators at church! that is soo good and im so excited for them. We have 3 baptisms set for this month, and are hoping for at least one more! it should be good! Well I have to go but all is going well here I really really wanted to tell you the story about how we got two of those three set for baptism but i'm completely out of time. I hope that you all have a wonderful week! I really appreciate all your support! it means a ton!!! TE AMO!!!

So there is Elder Bishop's letter from April 15th. He is doing really well, he was recently make District Leader! He has been stressed about this call, and despite being a little worried about it he has taken it on and been sucessful! He just sent some pictures that I will post as soon as I get them scanned!

CRAZY WEEK!!! I freaking am just eating it up out here! I'm loving every second of it! and after you read this email... you will know exactly why i just said that! So i guess i will just dive right into our week. First of all last Thursday and Friday the zone leaders were here on exchanges! It was soo good. You remember my tight buddy out here elder Hernandez? Well he is companions with the zone leaders right now and so he was able to come up here with them. I spent all of Thursday with him and we just had ourselves a dandy ol' time! It was really fun! Then Friday I went with another missionary that is from Alpine. It was a really good exchange! We found TONS of new investigators! About 14 to be exact! It was a really really good. After the exchange was over we all went out to dinner at this place called 5 guys... its exactly like "in-n-out"! Its way way good! On Saturday I got home to the SWEET! surprise of a package! I loved it but was mas o menos frightened to see a freaky picture of the easter bunny staring straight at me! It was scary! But I loved it and those Greg Olsen painting cards are the coolest things ever! I have the perfect use for them! Sunday was good! I had a wonderful and very hungry Easter! Our branch forgot to fast the Sunday before conference so we did it the Sunday after which just so happened to be... EASTER! I was quite bummed that I couldnt eat all of my candy while I was studying in the morning but it was all good. The member that I live with asked me to stand up and give the "missionary moment" in sacrament meeting. Its just like a youth speaker, talk for like two mins and share a scripture. It was easy though because of the fact that it was Easter... I already had my topic!!! haha We got new teachers for our investigators class, he is way way sweet and the investigators love him! It will be really good. Monday we just tracted for like 7 hours straight... it was rough. For an update on the Bautista family! they are doing great! We had a good lesson on monday night! It went really well. We ended up teaching them the word of wisdom! They promised to live it and are soooo excited for their baptism! So next week is transfers again! Can you believe that! It has been 6 weeks since I became District Leader and senior companion! I really dont want to be transferred! There is multiple reasons why but the biggest is we have a new family that we are teaching named the Posada family. They were talking with missionaries like 5 years ago and then just lost contact with the church... now they want to be baptized! I'm soo happy for them and for the opportunity that we have to teach them! We had our first lesson with them last night and all went EXTREMELY well! I don't want to be transferred because I have about 8 for sure baptisms lined up for next transfer and 2 maybes. So like 10! Exciting right! My companion and I are just ripping it up here! Last night the zone leaders called me and were just praising my district and told me that my district is leading the spanish zone right now! I have been so stressed and overwhelmed with the district leader call and I just watch the Lord help me and bless me everyday! I'm doing it, but only with his help! So that was my week! Well I have to run but I love you all soooo much and I wouldn't trade my family for the world! I love you mom and dad and i'm so glad that you shared the gospel with me when I was young and now I get to share it with the world!
